for the first 48 hours, put on a cold compress 30 minuteson and 30 minutes off. cold keep the vasculature (veins) compressed to slow down reactionary swelling which decreases pain...then, start applying warm compresses for 48 hours 30 on and 30 off...this helps opent he vasculature to help the swelling that did occur to go down. take a piece of cotton gause and put it between the bad toe and the next good toe and thenput a piece of tape around both toes. this will help to act like a splint...do this for about a week...if you still have problems after that, see your doctor in case your toe may be broken...good luck
tylenol or advil for the pain as directed ont he box

Take some ibuprofen. That's an anti-inflammatory and will make the swelling go down. Also try an ice pack. That should work too.

RE:
How do you make swelling go down?
Are you supposed to use something hot or something cold? I hit my little toe on the foot of a table and it's swollen.
