Why does daytime nondrowsy medicine still give you "medicine head"?

I have an awful head cold and taking DayQuill has left me feeling daydreamy and light headed!

the metabolites are stilling working in your body for many hours and it takes a while for your liver to break them down and clear them thru the urine or bowel

Because it contains psudoephedrine. For most people, it acts as a pick-me-up. For some, it causes drowsiness.

It`s not 100% non drowsy as claimed.
