Silk Road is the road traveled initially by Marco Polo and afterwards the used primarily used for Silk trading in the early years. Silk producers were Turkey and the Chinese and everyone in betweeen this route got their share through Caravans traveling in between. Succesful SILK trade then grew into other areas - so China to Turkey and beyond a new tradeway was formed. Now this imaginary road is used by tourists only to visit the mounments and the caravanserais along the road.

The Silk route is a route for business between india and china near tibet and sikkim(Nathula is the place name), the route name is silk route because in the earlier time the the main business at this route is of Silk.

Historically, the Silk Route was the caravan route from Constantinople (now Istanbul) to China; through the Caucasus and the Himalayas and across the Gobi. Traders exchanged Chinese silk and spices for European gold, furs and other goods.

The Silk Road was an interconnected series of routes through Southern Asia, traversed by caravan and ocean vessel, and connected Chang'an (now Xi'an) in China with Antioch in Asia Minor, as well as other points. Its was over 5,000 miles long and the oldest established trade route in history. Its influence also extended across the sea into Japan and Korea.
