Um...there are many, many more religions whose creation myths do not include Adam and Eve. In fact, there are only a very few who do actually include them. Check into any reputable Dictionary of Religions (HarperCollins makes a good one) for more info.

well, some Jewish text say the first woman was Lilith. Eve was 2nd. though Adam SaW the first man, this is not saying that someplace outside of Eden,God did not make other people. when Cain was sent away, he took a wife in the land of Nod. before the population was large enough, incest was most likely the only option in some cases. limited genetic pool, but nature would prevail,*only the strong survive*. when there is only two,it is assumed. cultures have frowned on incest as our population has grown. frankly there is no need for it to survive now. it is distasteful to us now, but even in today's world, people as close as 1st cousins marry. during the Pharaohs of Egypt reign, it was expected for siblings to marry, to keep the royal line pure. this is not a new question, and should not make people mad.

This is a question that has plagued mankind for many years and you are not the first to ask it.
It is generally thought that when the word Adam is used it is a generic term meaning mankind. The same holds true for Eve.
That would mean there was more than just one man and one woman.
It is also generally held that GOD placed one of each in the Garden of Eden.
Adam=man
Eve=woman.

Well, first of all. All men and women were created before Adam and Eve.
Second, The Tree of Life is Jesus.
And, finally. Third, the laws of incest were not given by God at that time. They came later.
I hope this helps.

Maybe this why people are so stupid in their beliefs. But really, here is another great metaphor taken literally proving once again that to take the Bible as a factual history of man is utterly ridiculous. I can assure you that at least someone has used this very matter as a justification for incest.

Wow...quite a few intellegant question there. I am glad you asked. Now, I can only answer you from a christian perspective, so I cannot speak of any other religion.
1- The tree of life was created by God, like he created everything else, and founded it in the midst of the garden of eve.
2- In regards to the 'incestuouse' line of procreation, yes they did bear childeren from within the same family, but that was only at the start, because there was no one else but them to "multiply and fill the earth"...
Having said that, it was not considered 'incest' because that was the intention at that point in time of creation/history. God did not place any boundaries because his plan was for manklind to "multiply and fill the earth".
The concept of incest and marraige laws were introduced later on in time in order to organise the matter and place some sort of boundaries and guidelines to what is appropriate and what is not. and that was brought about with the laws of moses that he received from God himself.
Interestingly, people look at this answer and say "why would God just keep changing the rules like that?"
The answer is not the He keeps changing the rules, but rather he changes the way he deals with mankind.
Baring in mind that mankind was still young and inexperienced, and as their experiences with God grows, the relationship and expectations grow with it.
an example of this is the way we bring up our own kids...At start, when our kids are babies, we can allow them to lie around naked in their cots, and them when they grow to become todlers, we find it 'funny' that they run around the lounge room with no clothes. But as they grow older, we smack them for doing so, and into adulthood, we would be extremely disappointed if they did something like that in public and even the civil laws would repremand them from doing so.
In summary, each era had its own laws, depending on our experiences and understanding and relationship with God according to His divine revelations to us.
I hope this somewhat helps...God bless you.

Man this is a cracker! Just read the Bible...
But since it is a compilation of books, maybe the part about where Adams kids got wives was omitted (recall reading about God instructing them not to get wives from evil Canaan? why was Canaan not mentioned in the 1st place? only Eden?)
Otherwise good query... and if ur right that me & u are products of incest, doesn't that explain why there are gazillions of problems in the world????????

I believe that there is a misinterpretation of the Bible. In Genesis 1:27 is states that God created man and woman. It doesn't say He created Adam and Eve, that comes in chapter 2. When God created man and woman, it was a bunch of different men and women, not just two like most Bible literalists would have you believe.
