i have a new puppy, not sure if he has worms or not, but my older dog now has an upset stomach and won't eat. Can worms be passed between dogs?

Yes it is very possable. All puppy's get worms after birth so it's important you get your new puppy wormed if you haven't already. Also if you let the puppy potty where the older dog potty's you need to go a head and get the older dog wormed as well.
You can tell if they have worms by examining the pooh though because you can actually see them.

Dogs can get worms by sniffing and stepping in another dog's poop. So you need to clean it up as soon as it goes to the bathroom. How long has this been going on? It could be that you are not giving the older dog enough attention and he is grieving that fact. Dogs won't eat if they are not happy.

Yes, worms can be passed from one dog to another. Take both dogs and fecal samples to a vet. The vet will determine which kinds of worms the dogs have and treat them accordingly. Do not try to use over the counter wormers, they don't work and can be harmful, even fatal to pups/dogs.

Yes worms can be passed on.
You need to take the old dog to the vet as a precaution to make sure its not something else.
But worm meds are relatively cheap and fed to the dogs once a month.

Yes they can. If your older dog has never been exposed to them being around other dogs it is possible. My 7 year old Chihuahua was diagnosed with them after being around a new puppy in the home. I took her to her vet and that's what the vet explained to me. So he had to put her on a 4 day dosage of liguid wormer and she is now parasite free, and she feels a lot better.

Yes, it is possible. Look in the stools for signs of worms, you can see them.
