This helps the congregation understand that we need to have humility toward one another & serve one another.
Christ washed even the disciples feet to show that he came to serve, not to be served. Most people like to be served (to be the king) so Christ used footwashing to REALLY get the point across. A great object lesson.
Are you willing to get dirty & do a meanial humiliating task for someone?

Not only do Baptists do it, but other christians also observe feet washing. This is because, after Christ had been betrayed, he took the Holy communion with his disciples and after the Holy communion he washed their feet and there after told them to be doing that as often as they could, as a ritual in His remembrance.
You can find that in the book of Corinthians.

It is a commemorative observance of the part of the Passover Jesus had with His disciples. When the supper and footwashing were completed, he said, "This do in remembrance of me." He intended it to serve as a reminder of His love for us and as an example of humility that we should show towards each other.

Its' a ritual. Although, it would make more sense for Baptists to baptize more frequently they do this ritual to re-enact Jesus getting his feet washed and anointed with oil by a harlot.
Personally, I don't see any reasoning for it, maybe you will get and actual answer, but I bet you just get a lot of "faith is for believers" bull.

Just before the last supper, Jesus washed the feet of the disciples as an act of servitude and love. Jesus commanded his followers to go and do likewise.
***
Jesus took a towel, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 13:5Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. 13:6Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?"
13:7Jesus answered him, "You don't know what I am doing now, but you will understand later."
13:8Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet!"
Jesus answered him, "If I don't wash you, you have no part with me."
13:9Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!"
13:10Jesus said to him, "Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you." 13:11For he knew him who would betray him, therefore he said, "You are not all clean." 13:12So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? 13:13You call me, 'Teacher' and 'Lord.' You say so correctly, for so I am. 13:14If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.

We must show that we are humble enough to stoop low enough to wash our brothers feet.
Jesus humbled himself and washed his disciples feet.
