No. I would return it to the police... Granted it would be great to find some extra cash and keep it, but look at this situation on the flip side.... What if that's someones' money for food for the rest of the week? How would you feel if that was your money and now you can't eat?? I believe in charma... If you return it, not only have you done a good deed, but you never know, maybe they will thank you and reward you in some way.. Or keep it, and one day when you loose your wallet and you need the money, just remember if you would've returned it..... I bet someone else would've returned yours... Besides the police will only hold the money and wallet for a week or so, so if you bring it to your local police department, and no one claims it, by right you can go back and get the money and keep it.. But I'd do it the right way 1st.. Food for thought..

I would take it to the police. I feel that is the right thing to do, and most police stations have a policy if the rightful owner doesn't claim it after (usually) 30 days, it belongs to the person who turned it in.

That is difficult....it would be very tempting!
Depends on if there were any ID details at all.....I might take a magical amount (not all of it) and take the rest to the police station.
I have lost mu purse three times and once a very honest person returned it with all the money in it!
That is great. I guess I would have to see what state my conscience was in at the time!

If I lost a wallet with all that cash in it and hadn't put any contact details in, I wouldn't expect to get it back. I wouldn't even go to the police, I'd just write it off.
If I was you I'd share it with all your Yahoo friends who've made an effort to answer you question!

I would be in doubt for some time but eventually I would hand it in to the police. Otherwise I would start to feel bad after a while.

depends. if you are near a police station, just hand it in but if you are far from one, I do not there will be any more point to do so because I am sure the owner will not do as much to look for his own wallet. :)

Well I'd first have to figure out how much that is in US dollars. I'd probably keep a wallet full of money with no contact info in it.

As the given question, it appears that no identification or contact details. 175pounds is similar to single penny. For me, secure the money and turn it over to the police authorities for them to log it on for further reference.
