For a few years I have been going to bed very late and not getting as much sleep as I should be, and I haven't really been getting taller. Can sleep affect that, or am I just as tall as I'm supposed to be? I'm 19. And what about diet? Because I'm also pretty thin.

I sure hope not. I've had a bad case of insomnia since I was a child.

Sleep is an essential for growth. Almost all the hormones that will enable you to grow are released during the REM cycle of sleep. Thyroid, Growth Hormone and Androgens. Try to get as much sleep as possible. Avoid late nights and exercise. The more you work your body now will surely help you later in life as well as your height. If your not getting a good diet as a supplement to foods (not a replacement) take some multivitamins. And most important avoid stress. So don't STRESS!!! Good luck:D

Well honey I think you already messed up some of your more formative years so now your gonna be a little guy. Yes sleep and diet have EVERYTHING to do with how you grow as a child. We as parents aren't just telling you to go to bed to get rid of you, you need your rest. The majority of all growth in children happens when they are sleeping. I actually think it's all but I cna't remember. You could start taking bettre care of yourself and work out to gain a little muscle but not sure how much more growing guys do after 19. You will get thicker but not sure about taller.

Getting enough sleep is important to teenagers as your body releases growth hormones in your sleep. Diet is important as you need to get enough nutrients.
