Of course the British biased, manipulating press is hiding this but lots of English were taken to jail in Gelsenkirchen because the threw stones and cans of beers to the Portuguese inlcuding women and CHIDREN. I wish they'd rot in jail. When will you grow up and learn to accept defeat? Or is your superiority complex so big that you just think you can't ever lose?? Grow up and stop being jerks. Really, I know the majority of the English people are not like this but this is so disgusting, you all get your image damaged by those bastards.

Michael, don't be stupid, I saw it on TV. The police had to escort the Portuguese out and keep the English bums inside for a while. I'm just sorry the police didn't do them what the British army did to the Hindi in Amritsar... hahah... Are you sure you were not among the Gelsenkirchen bullies?

Isleborn: I take offense at your answer. I'm not in the habit of making up stories. I'd be a famous author if I was. Millions of Portuguese saw it on TV, our fans running away from the English, even the TV cameramen had to run. A woman said she was nearly hit by a can of beer, and there were children around her. You're an arrogant hooligan, you've offended me with your suggestion that I'm lying. You will pay for it one day.

there is always a rogue element in every community, terroists, football, etc. Please don't tar us all with the same brush. Normal england fans are gutted but would't resort to violence, and unfortunately the press does't help. there were thousands of fans in germany, but only a few hundred were arrested. I am not condoning it but please don't view us all the same.

Can you post the link that shows the news report?
Because I didn't here this on any of the internet news channels... and I don't see why the English press would hide it, as they're all competing with each other... If the Mirror hid the story the Sun would definatley print it and vice versa. Equally, in the very unlikely event of the entire English press getting together to hide a story like this the Scottish press would have a field day and would go out of there way to print it...
Perhaps your unaware of how the English press works... they tirelessly denigrate hooliganism... if any occurs they point it out very quickly and efficiently and it is splashed all over the news... yet I have seen and heard nothing.
I know that on some of your other questions you've made anti-English/racist comments relating to the World Cup... could it be that you've made this up as well?
I think all your answer contributors should check the facts before swallowing your story because, as someone has already mentioned, FIFA and the German Police have officially stated that English fans have had the least arrests made... of 'all' the countries... that incudes Portugal.
FIFA and the German Police are of course not biased towards the English in any way, shape or form and this does cast some doubt on the validity of your claim.
try better next time...

Strange, this wasn't mentioned in the North American Press, German press or online press. The things which WERE mentioned was the throwing of bottles in Buenos Aires (against German fans at the Goethe institute) and a ruckus between English and German fans with a few arrests.
There're a@@holes on all sides (you being one of them, for propagating nonsense) and yes, the soccer wolrd would be better without them. But overall, fans, even the Englis, German, Dutch and Italian fans were friendly and peaceful.

Distinction here...between England fans..and England hooligans. Hooligans stoned the Portuguese, not the true fans who were there to watch the game. I personally think it's time we took their passports away and chucked em away and threw away the keys...sadly...Human Rights prevents that.....

That's just not nice... It's bad for the game and for the image of the country. If they keep doing that they won't "receive" a tournament in next times. We had EURO 2004 and i was amazing! A great honor and a greatest passion! "Como uma força que ninguem pode parar!" :)

I for one applaud the English hooligans. Apparently they have no bias or racism, they are idiots to everyone equally.
