get PCSO's statement writing and File building and prosecution team then there would be at least a 70% rise in coppers on the street.
PCSO's are the governments quick fire easy way to smother a problem that is going to get worse and make it look like there are more cops on the street. The Met know how to do it but every other force really has not listened to there PC's and what works. Any one who is Inspector or above generally is looking out for number one and how to fix a problem that is not broken so they look good to there peers.

Definitely not rent a cops. They do not have the powers or training.
CSOs are a cheap gimmick thought up by a desperate government. They were supposed to be cheaper than a cop but are in fact nearly as expensive.
The country would be far better off if they were got rid of and replaced with properly trained police officers.
No wonder the government cant control crime!!!!!

Do you mean Community Service Officer?? They usually work for Municipality in the Police Dept. They handle minor things that would normally be tying up the cops. Traffic control, vehicle lock outs, assisting the Fire Dept on their calls.

If you are referring to Security Guards, that is a very derogatory term for the people who work in that industry, and one that most have to live down while doing it. Most people I know who are in that industry are very dedicated to their job, and in Canada we are unarmed, are not allowed to use any weapons of any kind, no pepper spray, and no restraining devices. We often face criminals who are armed and dangerous that the Police are not eager to face, but since we protect private property, we must approach, arrest and apprehend until the Police arrive, and yet we receive derision from them for doing what is basically their job. I wear my uniform proudly, and mostly what I do is help people, and most of us are first aid trained and are very good at helping and tending to injured persons until EHS arrives. Is it a "good or bad" job? Only those dedicated to their craft will answer yes, and for me it is a calling, as was the Military for me also.
