Even though I'm not Athiest i will answer this question.

It's human nature. Humans are inherantly good. I mean since you are Christian you believe in God so my next question/point will make sence to you.

Does God create good or evil people?
He/She creates good people and the world turns some of them bad.

See the truth is I respect Athiest do gooders more then I respect non Athiest do gooders. The reason for this is obvious.

They don't need a book or religion to do good things; they do them because they are good. Yes, some non Athiests do this too, but most of them only do good things because they believe they have too.

"why would you help other people if it doesnt matter to you. if you knew you would get no reward for your good deeds ,why would you do them?"

It does matter to me. Just because there isn't a reward doesn't mean people shouldn't do good.

"like would you donate money to people who suffer from natural disasters?"

Yep, I'm atheist and I have donated money to people in need and I will continue to.

do you really need the promise of supposed salvation to do a good deed?

helping people isn't about getting something back, and yes i will donate money - can anyone with even a shred of decency watch the footage of the various disasters on the tv and not want to help in some way? (expecting something in return is pretty small minded)

Wait, so are you saying that you should only do good deeds if you get a reward? So doing good deeds just for the sake of doing good deeds is meaningless? With all due respect, that's not exactly a very good philosophy to live by.

Perhaps to an etheist person they are just good natured people. I have several friends who are atheist and are good people, but they do it just because they know it's the right thing to do. Unlike some christians, who do good things in order to get into heaven and receive a reward, its like they need to be bribed to do good things.

Good deeds shouldn't be done for only a reward. Only truly good people can be good and expect no reward in the end.

Humans have a good side to them. We do not do everything for a reward. There is basic compassion and shared humanity that play a part in all we do.

Morality exists outside of religion. Morals exist due to socitey not religion.

By helping those arround me I am making the world I live in a better place. I realy would like to live in a better place. I would also be thankful for the help if I ever need it.

Being kind might mean more if the act is not promoted by a reward/punishment cycle. If it's all about free will and you choose kindness, doesn't it mean more?

Your choice of belief should have nothing to do with whether you care about other people or not, if some people wants to make it that way, then we should pray for them!
