I have downloaded some movies that have a RAR file extension, I can't get these files to play, I have tried different media players but none will recognise the file extension. Is there a way to convert the files so they can be played????

You must download WinRar (I think you can use www.download.com for this) and open the file with this application. WinRar is very similar to WinZip (the application that extracts files from compressed folders) except WinRar has it in a file instead of a folder. When you open the file using WinRar, it will show all the other files contained in the one you downloaded. Then you can copy these onto a folder and delete the .rar file if you like.

RAR is like a zip file, you need to extact the data from them. Have you tried right clicking on the file and then extracting the data to a specific location?

RAR files are like ZIP files. to get the files zipped in a RAR archive you need a WINRAR to extract them after then you can use the files individualy.
you can get WINRAR from www.rarlab.com

Howdy m_smout!

I use al zip to open my RAR files. I like to download objects and skins for The Sims2 and they often use this format. It's cute, fast, efficient and free, just download it at this site:

I've never had a problem with it (merrily touches wood)
