I teach teens. I find that many of the kids are responding to peer pressure. Many times if you threaten to call home they will BEG you not to. And yes, many parents lack in parenting skills - I've called home before with a problem, and the parent will say they just don't know what to do - silently I am thinking, "Take away the car, the playstation, the TV, the internet, etc..." As teens they have to be responsible, but they're not born with it, they must be taught.
I agree that the values are less than when I was a teen, (I am only 29), but there are a LOT of great kids out there who care about the world around them and are searching for people to care about them. Due to the behavior of some teens, much of the world has turned it's back on them and dismissed all teens as being deviants - and that's totally not the case. I would say most teens have good hearts and good intentions. However, they are only human, and they will cave with peer pressure easier than adults who are (generally) firm on what they believe and who they are. Teens are just trying to figure it all out.
Maybe it's the teacher in me, but if a kid is doing something I feel inappropriate in public, I'll call them on it! Especially if my child (or other children) are around. If they cause a seen I'll walk away, but most of the time they'll stop - again... peer pressure.

I think they are trash. I went through High School withough drinking, smoking, and having sex. Now I drink fairly often, smoke from time to time, and and still a virgin. I think I'm old enough to do these things though.

The average age for a child to lose their virginity is something like 14 or 15 these days, it's ridiculous.

I've noticed a decline in the average teenager. Due to the increasing lack of parental skills in this country, the rebelious nature of teens (from what I've seen, mind you), seems to be greatly increasing.

Unfortunately, these are our future leaders.

values .. . most of them have NO values! most of them lose their viriginities by the time they're 15, they drink and use drugs to much. they cuss too much, in public, EVERYWHERE. they are rude and disrespectful.
but thats just most of them. a lot of the teenagers are respectful and responsible, but not many
but these disrespectful teens are mostly in the western cultures though. in eastern cultures, they are a LOT MORE respectful.
sorry if i offended anyone.

the teens I know are eager to please adults, concerned about social issues such as homelessness, creative and fun loving and enjoy spending time together.
