nope, there should be something at the VA hospital that you could do that you wouldn't necessarily have to come into contact with people, such as help cleaning up inside, help in the kitchen, or even grounds help. just talk with someone at the hospital and see what they have available.

If you want to do this for your resume, then forget about it. You wouldn't last any time at all.
If you do it out of true altruism, then give it a try.You might find you're more of a people person than you think. It's truely amazing how you feel when helping others. Especially when you are helping the men and women who serve and fight for you to have the freedom to volunteer.
Keep in mind that it won't be easy. Veterans can be a grissley bunch. Of course, you would be the same way if you lived with the daily pain many vet live with.
Keep a smile on your face and treat them like you want to be treated.
If you later decide its not for you, then you will still be a better person for the experience.

Dear Dreary,
Ah, I gotta say, a volunteer at a VA hospital NEEDS to be a "people person..." some of the soldiers returning from Dubya's debacle are in rough shape... they need sympathetic eyes, a kind smile, and many encouraging words... not Nurse Ratchet with a broomstick between her legs. Maybe you'd be more suited to volunteering at a crematorium for the underprivileged...

I would think so. Unless you volunteer to do something like prepare care packages, etc. If there is an opportunity that places you away from people go for it. If not, find a different place to volunteer. The United Way can match your skills, personality to a different volunteer position you may be better suited for.

No. There are a lot of jobs to be done, I'm sure, like filing and helping with meals, that don't require you to be incredibly outgoing. Not to mention, if I were in the hospital with a leg missing, I might appreciate a break from cheerful banter all the time.

Nope. You can volunteer anywhere you want, but why???? Personally, I have always liked working for money. If you don't like being around messed up vets, then try your luck at your local vet hospital. They don't talk back!

So I even ought to concentration on my personal complications being resolved in the present day in my existence. once they're resolved I plan on helping myself & playing existence. The religious middle I attend can help encourage me plenty notwithstanding it relies upon. If i pass & they concentration on us helping the persons in Africa that is depressing after I actually have my personal complications to placed my potential into. I watched Rev. Micheal Beckwith the day exceeded by on PBS & he defined how a topic is resolved by no longer irritating about it so i favor to pass back to that. after I triumph over issues in my personal existence I nevertheless gained't pass to the VA clinical institution or the homeless shelters. i'd truly encourage human beings on how they could in straight forward words administration their recommendations & no accessible extremely help them until eventually they're open to recieve. they could't replace some issues & they favor to carry close a thanks to think of their desirable with the flaws they could replace & replace them.

If you're not a people person, maybe the question you should be asking yourself is "am I a bedpan person". Choices, choices...
