Definitely. This is not an unchangeable practice within the Catholic Church, only a preference. It would definitely help solve the shortage of ministers issue and would likely draw in some evangelical pastors who would convert to Catholicism.

I think he should. Most Catholics don't know this but priests used to be allowed to get married. And then in the mid 14th century, a new law was made that priests couldn't get married. The reason was because priests were given churches to live in. They married and had children and when they died, the children sold the churches and kept the money for themselves. So the church was loosing all this property and money. So they decided to not allow priests to get married. Now that there are laws against things like that, the pope can safely allow the priests to get married and avoid all these child molestation from pent up sexual energy that they aren't allowed to disperse anywhere else.

Many think it'd be a good thing. Then there's the problem of the mandatory health insurance and dependent care that'd be required for priests' families.

I think it'd be better to allow celibate priests, but also allow married clergy to have more duties.

Yes, a male or female partner. Though we heterosexuals have made a mess of marriage, so why homosexuals want it is beyond me.

Also he should stop hypocracy and let women choose when they will conceive.

Then he should hand all of the churches money over to poor impoverished countries to pay for medical supplies and clean water.

Then he could find out where mother theresa hid her stash, and give that away too.

Then he should retire, and vote in a young stud of a pope who can sing romantic opera.

initially, we Catholics DO examine the Bible. maximum Catholics do no longer comprehend what the catecism even is. second, clergymen, nuns and clergymen all take solomn vows of obedience, poverty and chastity. They comprehend what they are stepping into lengthy earlier they ever make those vows, and they are meant to honor those vows. The Bible also talks about wolves wearing sheep's clothing...per chance the few clergymen who've had subject matters (which by utilizing the way, is fairly terrible given the very incontrovertible reality that they'd have left the priesthood at any time!!) are those very wolves in sheep's clothing?! maximum Catholics on the instantaneous, do not positioned a lot capacity contained in the Pope. We view his ideas as his ideas, and keep on our lives besides the undeniable fact that we see extra healthful. He would not replace any scripture (wish to entice close the position you ever heard that one from), yet he does carry the capacity to regulate doctrine. He became on condition that capacity by utilizing Jesus Christ himself. each and every of the successors of Peter have that capacity. that's contained in the Bible. per chance you want to coach what you carry forth and skim the total Bible, no longer merely the elements that artwork on your protection?

They have gone through centuries believing it is a sin for a priest to marry and that he is married to the Church. I think it would be pretty weird to suddenly change the belief system. It is like suddenly saying to the Jewish that they can now eat pork and it is no longer a sin.

if the lord in the old testament saw fit for the priest to marry, I don't understand why any religion would go against priest marrying, also it may cut down on the problems the church seems to be having with sexual abuse.

I know there's a lot of homosexuality going on in the catholic church but this is taking it a bit too far. Which one of the priests would wear the dress anyway?
