The Dove & Pigeon are from the same family.
Mankind has symbolized the Dove as a icon of PEACE, this bird can be white, brown, tan.
The Pigeon is Mankinds symbolic icon of the PEST.
Both of these birds are one and the same.

Pigeons are doves. There are just different breeds.
Pigeons aka rock doves are less skittish though. I've had both and prefer pigeons.

Some people use these words interchangeably - the common pigeon is more correctly called a 'rock dove' - but the most obvious difference between the common pigeon and the common dove are their beak sizes and facial sizes. Compare these images to see the differences -

pigeons and doves are the same just that doves are white and pigeons are multicolored.

Doves are smaller, more streamlined looking, and usually are found in pairs, or maybe very small flocks. Pigeons are bigger and are usually considered a nuisance, hanging around in flocks of thousands sometimes around places like grain elevators, dairies, any food processing plant, ledges of buildings, and on statues!

Doves are actually more gentle than pigiaons and are rarely ever grey colored like pigions. They also can be trained faster than some pegions.
