Yes ! The M1 Garand and the M1 Carbine and the M 14 were all Gas Operated rifles. As the bullet passes down the bore there is gas pressure behine it from the burning powder. This gas pressure can be as high as 40,000 psi A small hole in the barrel allows gas to pass into a tubeunder the barrel and drive a piston to the rear. This cycled in another round. If the gas port became fould the weapon would not cycle but could still be fired manualy.
I carried the M1 and it is a fine weapon. It never runs out of gas.

Umm The M1-Garand Wasnt Gas powered it was semi-auto because Of the mechanism inside it. wich propelled the next bullet.

It's a rifle and its not a Gas powered rifle

Gas Operated mean the gasses produced by the powder is used to operate the bolt to eject the casing and feed a new round in the chamber.

the mechanism works on the gas of the cartridge discharge. when the gun goes off, the recoil of the rifle and the explosion created chambers another round. as long as you have bullets, it will keep firing.
i don't know what a gas operated gun would be like, but it's a good question. you'd have to start it like a lawn mower i guess.

no i have one it runs off the gases that are made when the round goes off the gas goes down a port and pushes a piston back and another round is loaded into the rifle automatically

yes it ran out of gas when it ran out of ammo. the gas from the round going off cycled the bolt and loaded a new round.
