There are two different one's that I've seen so far. One with a group of 4 people chatting about crying during the movie, and WAM! they get broadsided, and the airbags come out. The other is like with two guys driving talking and they hit a red truck that enters traffic infront of their car. Both commercials end with the text showing at the end above the damaged vehicle, "SAFE HAPPENS"

The fact that you find the Volkswagen commercials disturbing, and you are thinking about them, proves, the commercials are extremely successful. Advertisers want your attention, and they want you to remember there product. As far as Madison Avenue is concerned, the Volkswagen ads are a home run.
By the way, I also find the Volkswagen commercials unsettling. Volkswagen would just love to hear that.

I am sorry that you find those commercials disturbing.Yes the crash is to get your attention, and point out the fact that with a VW you are driving a safe auto. The approach might be a bit left of center, but car accidents happen in this country every few moments. They are a fact of life in the world today.A vehicle that offers excellent protection to the people in a auto crash, should be a positive thing. That is the intent.Again, sorry if you do not view it that way.vwjcook@yahoo.com

Oh! I didn't see the "safehappens" part. They were confusing the heck out of me. Thanks! Now at least I know what they're advertising.
