Does anyone know of a lasso like tool that is used like the pencil tool?

I am using Adobe Photoshop 5. I don't draw too straight so when using the lasso tool, it takes a long time just to select an area that I want selected. Does anyone know how to make a lasso selection pixel by pixel? Seems to me their would have to be a way, so the artist could get a very accurate selection of what they want to select with the lasso tool. If anyone knows of any addon tools, please mention it. A lasso tool that would make selecting easier and more accurate would be a very cool tool to have.

I know I am using a pretty old version of Adobe Photoshop. I got it a long time ago and just been learning with it when I can. I have learnt a few things and can do some impressive stuff. Not a professional at it, but I can do some pretty cool stuff.

Set Lasso tool sensitivity to very high say 8 out of 10 and then try it that should work.
