As everybody told you that "kawaii" means " cute"
But not only means "cute " but also mean "lovely"
kawaii [ Ka - pronounced like CUt, wai - prponounced like WHY, and the last 'i' pronounced like 'I'n ]
example:
kawai'i ko-inu = 'cute' puppy //'lovely puppy'
kawai'i kimi :) = lovely you :)
'ka wa ii' means 'mosquitoes are good'. is the correct answer, too .. but when japanese will say mosquitos are good? lol
Black dog's answer is the most closed answer.... Really omoshiroi for sure!

In Japanese it means "Cute"
As in That dog is kawaii.
The way american girls use "cute" to describe boys, its not used in that same way. It's actually just means cute as in a stuffed animal, or a pet, etc.
I'm fluent if you have anymore questions. =]
P.S. The person above me said "kawai" is for scary..well its actually Kowai...yeah, haha. =]
