Beth, do what MO suggests.
Contact CCFA (The Crohn´s and Colitis Foundation of America) and they will be able to help in so many way, including support groups. And rest assured that there is no way that this dx is transmittable - it's a horrible disease that destroys life's of entire families as the effects of it are terrible. The cause is not known, and the treatments are based on corticoids which will have bad side effects. To everyone out there who has or knows somebody w/Crohn´s dx, please contact CCFA and consider donating money for the finding of a cure -- it is kept as a silent dx by those afflicted by it, and the statistics are that 1 x every 100 person in the USA has some degree of it, and increasing. There are many senators, actors, singers, that suffer from this dx, but they don't have the guts to come out and support CCFA - instead they go to other charities that are more 'glamorous'.

I have had crohns for 15+ years and to answer your question crohn's is not a contagious disease, although I sometimes would like to give it to some :). The only way it could affect your partner is the mental aspects of the disease, he or she could be depressed watching you go through the pain & suffering. Hope that helps!

No Chrons is not a catagouis dx, It is only stressful to see the person around you suffer with it. You don't Have to worry bout catching anything. This dx at it's worst can kill the indivdual afflect with it. Its not a sexuall Dx

Oh no! Contact CCFA.com. Great site about the disease. But no sweetie, it isn't communicable. How are you doing? Are you with a good doctor? He should have been able to answer this question for you.
