Ok so back in the day when Starbucks first started we only had three sizes. Short (8oz), Tall (12oz) and Grande (16oz)
But then everyone was like we need more coffee. So they came up with Venti. Venti means 20 in Italian. A venti holds 20oz of coffee.

Starbucks in the very beginning only had two sizes, short and tall. This actually made sense. At this time they only served brewed coffee and sold coffee beans. Then, to conform in the world of super sized fries and biggie macs they added a grande, which means large in Italian. Eventually Starbucks added a Venti, still adhering to the Italian theme. The only thing now that doesn't make sense is that Italians don't use the metric system so twenty ounces really doesn't work. And who seriously needs twenty ounces of anything. That's almost a pound and a half. In countries where people aren't all obsenely obese no one orders a venti and an Italian would never be caught dead with one.

vente means sale in french...I think because vente is the largest size might mean a better deal.
Vent or Vento comes from air and can be associated on this case with fresh.
I think the right answer is vente in french, like promotional size.
