How do you make the hard, dark chocolate shell?

Like you put on the good, German cakes (the authentic ones, like nuessekuchen)

you have to melt good quality dark chocolate. in a bowl over warm water not boilling.and add cream stir.
1lb choc
1/2 pint cream
its double cream or heavy cream.
then put your cake in fridge pour over the cream and choc mix
