You could call yourself bright but it's not a very common name...or maybe not even a good idea.
What type of bright does your chinese name mean
ie intelligent , shining, or bright light...sorry really need your chinese pinyin name to help.

I have a Chinese friend who named himself "Brighter". Really.

So, what I am saying is, yes, you can name yourself "Bright" but I would not recommend. We do not want to use "unusual" names because other than it makes you "unique", other narrow minded people would make fun of it.

Imagine Yao Ming is called Bright Yao?

Common names like John, Gary, Matthew etc are perfectly good English (Christian) names. Search up the web with "Christian Names" and you will find a lot of choices there.

Good Luck!

You are better off using the phonetics for your English name. Forget trying to translate it or it will sound ridiculous, unless you want it that way. Look at the more populars Chinese around, they kepttheir pinyin names, they did not try to translate it in any way. Ask your President.

Yes. Bright is a nickname for Brighton. It is also the name of a character on a tv show called Everwood.

It is a little stupid. I have never met anyone by this name.
it isn't a name in English.

A native speaker would never think this is a name.

Bright is also the name of a kind of Milk in China.

I think you can name yourself anything you want. Use your Chinese name, use "Bright", "Brighton" (like someone else suggested) - whatever you like. But if you are looking for a more traditional American name, a possible synonym for "bright" is "vivid", which is like the name "Vivian". 'Just a thought.

I suppose almost anything can be a name. I have never heard of it as a name. It is not a common name if that is what you are asking. But there are a lot of people who name their children strange and different names.
