All depends on what you're gonna be doing with it. For ranch/hard work I would choose a Ford, just because the suspension holds up better than anything else on the market. Chevys usually have the softest ride, and feel the smallest to drive, so they usually make great town trucks, etc, etc. Dodge models (at least with the cummins) are the best pulling trucks out of the league, and are very comfortable on long hauls. I make frequent 600+ mile trips with my 1-ton dually, and never have to stop except to get fuel.

Now if you're looking for something fast and affordable, I would get either a dodge cummins diesel, or a chevy duramax, since both are extremely easy to get to RUUUUNNNNN. I know people that are running 13s in the quarter with programmer and exhaust alone. Ligntings and SRT-10s are fast, but are way overated for how expensive they are. Personally, I'm into the great power, torque, and fuel mileage of the diesel trucks. Just my .02

Ford has been the number one truck for years, and with good reason. They build a great truck. I just sold my 1999 Super Duty Crew cab with 140K trouble free miles. I've had International Harvester p/u, Chevy, 3 Fords and a Dodge which were all OK, but the Duper Duty Ford F250 Crew Cab excelled.

Any GM product is both tough and economic you just need to figure out what you need it for. In the Truck business there is no competition to GM or FORD however between the two GM leads in many technological aspecst in the motor but FORD leads in the transmission department. Reason GM is because a transmission is much cheaper to repair than a motor.

depends on what you are going to use the truck for...but for an overall truck with the best reliablity rating, you can't go wrong with the Toyota Tundra. They have a great track record and a high resale value. Most of the domestics have high costs for breaking down.
