Sleep research has shown that the cognitive areas of the brain are dormant during the dream phase of sleep, so looking for meaning in your dreams is like looking for philosophical truths in a bowl of alphabet soup.
However, I can personally attest to one positive message I've taken from dreams - when I am worried about money, or a relationship, or some project that I need to complete, I often dream that I have the money, or the relationship is fine, or the project is complete. When I wake up, nothing is changed, except I feel better about it, and know it will work out okay.
I also had a vivid dream about doing something that frightened me - diving into a pool head first. It seemed so natural and easy in the dream, that I tried it the next chance I got, and I haven't been afraid of it since.
So I guess my advice would be - take dreams at face value, and enjoy the feelings they invoke. Any meaning you take from your dreams is meaning you put into them during evaluation.

If I have a dream that seems significant I just let my subconcious tell me what it means. I give it 24 hours. If something is on my mind when I go to sleep I usually wake up the next day with an understanding of what it meant. It works for me every time. Maybe I'm special. It might not work that way for everyone.

Yes... sometimes a dream is how your subconscious tells you what it sees as probabilities. Your SC can take notes while you're doing something else. It takes notes of the police who is out of your conscious line of site but you know something is wrong so you slow down.
A dream can also be a warning from something your SC can see as a probability. It's not always right but it can be right.
If you believe in the Bible you'll know that many people have been warned by God through dreams.

There appears to be a "science" behind dreams; but no dream "teller" can ever know exactly what your dreams really mean. For example, I dreamt two nights ago that a giant praying mantis was biting my head off as it fought with WWII soldiers for a better peanut butter sandwich. In the meantime, Barney, the purple dinosaur, was jerking off the president of Mexico who is yet to be elected... does this mean anything? Only I will know...
YOU must be the one who decides what you want your dreams mean...

Sometimes a dream is telling you something or preventing
you from something that might happen, maybe not now, but
later on in life. I always try to remember my dreams, because
it can be giving me a hint of how to be prepared

i dont know if your a christian but the Bible says that you are not to interpret dreams. Visions are from God but dreams are to be interpreted by only God himself. Read the book of Genesis.

Dreams don't usually mean anything. They're just your mind swirling around from everyday life while you sleep.

Dreams don't mean anything. They are random bits of information and thoughts.
