AP Indy has the most consistent runners while Storm Cat has produced the most ornery sonsofbitches on the planet. I like Mr. Prospector who had more lifetime stakes winners than most others...I have no opinion on Sunday Silence...

#3 AP INDY

Bird: You know I love AP INDY but he's 3rd based on stud accomplishments.
AP INDY is rapidly climbing the charts but he hasn't made #1 yet...although Bernardini will help his cause. When stud duty is finished we'll have to look back at his career and compare again.
Outside this list, Bold Ruler was mentioned, Northern Dancer should be mentioned for the grass side of things and of course you have to include my boy ALYDAR. Such a short life and tragic ending...but we got Alysheba, Easy Goer, and Strike The Gold who all won triple crown races.

Well Storm Cat has the highest stud fee going for 1/2 million yes that is 500 hundred thousand dollars per shot.
All are good studs and it would depend on what your mare had and what you were looking to breed such as a horse for more short distance speed or more longer distance and less top end speed.

I prefer Bold Ruler because he sired Secretariat who gave us A.P. Indy as well as Storm Cat. But if I had to choose from those 4 I would have to say Storm Cat.

I completely agree with Maddog, although it is difficult to rate Sunday Silence with the other three. The quality of mares he recieved wasn't as high as the American sires (of course had he stayed in America he wouldn't have had the opportunity he got in Japan). Too different a situation to thoroughly evaluate him.
