Why do a lot of celebrities, etc, that do drugs and all that good stuff only "find themselves" after they find God? That's like saying God is only for the weak who can't stand up by themselves...or maybe that God reached out a hand or whatever. Why don't people have enough will power?

Because on our own, we are all evil and bent towards doing sinful things. Only God can truly change our character and make us the man or woman He has called us to be.

We were created by GOD..our souls were created BY GOD...

When we learn about the value of life and are able to get grounded...err we mature..then much of what we used to do...we stop doing...celebrities are no different...it is just how long it takes then to mature....Tom Cruise is still jumping on furniture on public TV..you call your own shot on that one...

It is BY GOD, that we CAN stand up by and for ourselves-whether we believe in him or not. He gives us the strength to do what we do.

Let's look at a few people...Jaimee Foxworth was on a family TV show, when she got fired from the show..she went into the adult industry and recently went on Oprah saying that she regrets having done that.

Eddie Murphy, as a comedian, was as blue as they come. Delirious and Raw were as explicit as comedy acts could get. But, once he matured, married and had kids, he stopped that altogether and much of what he was died. Maybe it was a career decision since most of his films became family style films and did not sell as much, but if you want to go see those films..rent them..that is your decision..he just didn't want films that his kids couldn't watch.

Angolina Jolie, was on her way to becoming literal trailer trash..once she married Billy Bob and did a film with him..that is how people saw her..especially after the episode with her brother.
She is now a mother of a few, married, settled down and even a goodwill ambassador. While Christianity may or may not play into it...in the end..priorities change.

We are all weak, not being able to stand up for ourselves. Some of us have the upbringing to feel ourselves strong, but many of us go off in the wrong direction. Thinking of God as Savior is usually a Christian way of defining what is going on, but Jews are given strength by following the Law and Muslims by following the pillars of their faith. It's good for all of us to have humility at least part of the time.

You answered your own question: People don't have enough will power.

Man, by the very nature, is sinful and rebellious against God. Like myself, sometimes we need to run to the end of our rope and admit our weaknesses, then God will answer us. Sometimes God wants to prove we can't do it ourselves before He makes Himself known. He then shows that, thru Him, that we can break our habit and be set free.

Humans are weak. On our own we can't really do much. God is willing to give strength. As a child, your parents teach, guide, and aid you as necessary to grow. Same as in this case, God wants to help us grow and overcome our weaknesses.

God is your will power...He gives you strenght to overcome difficulties; He gives you hope so that life doesn't seem like a lost cause, basically everything positive that you feel is God's work, so in the end He is always the saviour....whether you like it or not.

Because that is the only time we can come to God. We have to put aside our pride.

You have to know you are drowning to know you need to be rescued.

You have to know you need a savior to be saved.
