I am motivated from mid afternoon until I go to bed....and when it is dreary and stormy outside.....I think it may be the sun that annoys me

I'm worthless if I try to do anything in the morning. It's almost 2AM and I've barely begun my day! My brain works now, and I feel motivated... I fall asleep when the sun comes up and start doing things seriously when it goes down. I've always been that way, and when I tried to work 8-5 I slept only weekends. Any wonder I eventually lost it, huh. Once I gave up trying to function on everybody else's hours I started doing so much better. And it never made any difference what medication I took. I'm a niteowl.

Oh and Slingshot is right about the xanax. Minor tranquilizers aren't a cure, in fact, they can cause all kinds of problems. Get counseling, and try homeopathics (I keep Hyland's Calms around for when I'm anxious). Get help, and get off the xanax.

Well of course you feel shaky and anxious in the morning. Your xanax has worn off and you need another dose. Unfortunately you sound like you have an addiction problem more than anything else. How long have you been taking xanax? You need to get off of this medicine and find something else to take in its place. Benzodiazapem addictions are very hard to break. If you haven't been on it a long time you may be able to get off of it fairly easy. I have seen people who were prescribe xanax by their doctors for an ungodly amount of time and then their doctor decides that they don't want them to take it anymore so they don't refill the prescription. Talking about people freaking out and getting anxious. They come into the ER looking for a prescription because they have missed only one dose! There are other drugs out there that will help you that are not controlled substances (narcotics and the like). Do yourself a favor and talk to your doctor before he turns you into an addict if he hasn't already.

I used to have the same problem. I'd wake up sick to my stomach and reaching out for that bottle of Xanax. At night I'd feel fine. I'd not even want to go to sleep because I hated waking up like that. Try this: when you wake up, if it is nice outside go for a short brisk walk. Like 20 minutes or so. It helps work out all that built up energy from the adrenaline running around in you and for you to get sunlight to help start your day. It helped me SO much.

Also Xanax is not something you should be on for more than a few months at a time. If you have you need to talk to your doctor about finding a safer long term solution such as an SSRI drug or some of the newer versions of anti depressant/anti anxiety medications. good luck!

I am a night owl, so I feel better at night. For some reason, every morning, I feel as if I have a hangover, and I don't drink. I really start moving around evening time- that is when I tackle huge projects, I usually go shopping after midnight if my kids are gone. I enjoy the peace and solitude (not to mention no crowding in the aisles) of the store!

I feel you have great hopes for the meds . You will need to learn more about your mind to recover. The pills are just to stall for time. They can keep you busy for years.
