Hopefully this will help, my son had the same type of surgery several years ago. After his surgery, he had a hard time opening his eyes (had both done at the same time) for a few hours, was very sensitive to bright light for about the first 24 hours, there was some burning/stinging sensation. Which didnt go past the first day, then the whites of his eyes were red for a few days to a week at the most and I honestly think it was less than a week. For the most part, the worst for him was right after the surgery, he was terrified cause he couldn't open his eyes (he was only 3 or 4 at the time) due to discomfort and minor puffiness. We were home within the first couple of hours after the surgery, and by the next day he was doing way better. He did not have any kind of bruising (black eyes) and the major part of the discomfort was gone within a day or two. Just make sure you remember to take a good pair of dark sunglasses with you the day of your surgery..You'll definately need them for the ride home. Good luck to you and I hope this helped
