Well, for me, i'm "Self satisfied"....sure, ya know, i don't have a job, but, i do quite well for myself regardless. If you do things on your own, for yourself, then i think that's when you become self satisfied...not just having things handed over to ya on a silver plate.
For example, i pay for all of my stuff. I Pay for me Cell phone, i pay for my computer i have, i pay for my cat, and myself to get me by for the month. Yea, sure, i'm on the government's "teat" now, but, meh...the thing is, i still do things for myself.
It doesn't matter how much stuff you have, or what you own. It's the feeling of accomplishing something that has brought you those things.

The body/mind is designed to always want more. This is in the Bible and in the teachings of other religions, and I know this from personal experience. Knowing that this is the case is a big help in gaining the willpower to stop before we do too much or try to acquire too much. The other thing that causes much frustration for people is when they try to feel satisfied in life by by anything other than having a close relationship with God. God created us to have a great need and hunger to be in close relationship with him. A person who doesn't know this and doesn't try to get close to God will always feel frustrated and lack feeling at real peace.
In addition to the above it is necessay to know that God has complete control over His Creation. Although we need to work and also to acquire wisdom and understanding, we need to realize that God loves us so much that He will never allow anything to happen to us that is not ultimately for our Good. Now, we can't be stupid about this, we must do avery thing in our power to get what we need and avoid problems. We can not just sit back and do nothing and expect God to take care of us. That would be presumption. It would be "testing" God. We must learn from Jesus when He was tempted by Satan and taken to a high point on the temple and told to jump off as God would keep him safe, Jesus said, "No. We are not to test God".
The other thing necessary to have peace in life is to recognize that if we do not control our mind, it will control us. We must be aware and on guard to watch our thoughts. We must recognize that just because we have a negative thought that something bad has happened or that something bad will happen, that that doesn't mean that the thought or thoughts are valid. We must compare these thoughts with Reality and with the Scriptures.
I have just hit the high points but I hope you get the idea. There are many scriptures that explain this further, I want to leave 3 with you just so that you get a taste of this. Praying these scriptures with faith and concentration every day can lead you into a peace that is impossible to immagine. Of course, there are books written about this also, but you must be careful as just because a person writes a book, doesn't mean he knows what he is talking about.
"Thow will keep him in perfect PEACE, whose mind is stayed(kept) on Thee; because he trusts in Thee." Isaiah 26:3.
"My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent His rebuke, because the LORD only disciplines those He loves, as a father, the son he delights in." Proverbs3:11-12.
The writer of the book of Hebrews thought this scripture so important that he quoted it Hebrews 12:5-6
"Be joyfull always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." --
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18----
I pray that God and His teachings will bring you peace and joy all of your life.

Empty yourself of desires...then you will not feel furstrated - Tao Te Ching. True fulfillment is not about acquiring material gain, prestige or "immortality". True fulfillment comes from doing what is good and beneficial for others. Only when you have accomplished this, then you will discover what is truly fulfilling.
