Try lavender oil. A few drops in each corner, everyday for a week or two. It worked for me.

I have an inexpensive solution to this problem that I found a few years back. It works very well on carpeting, hardwood flooring, and cement. [If there was a known source that caused the infestation, then be sure that it has been removed (i.e. an old couch or chair) or treated (i.e. a pet) prior to using this method.]

Go to the grocery store and pick up Borax in the laundry detergent aisle. You will want to sprinkle a light layer (will look like a dusting) all over the floor of your garage and let sit for 24 hours.

Then, take a broom and drag the borax all around the floor and into any crevices and cracks (especially around the perimeter). After you have spread it out by sweeping, sprinkle a second light layer onto the floor and let it sit for another 24 hours--then sweep it up with a broom or vacuum.

I had great success with this method for an environmental infestation.

This is the only thing that worked for us....we tried everything as well. Buy some Borax laundry booster (at walmart in the detergent section) and mix about half of a big box full with a container of regular table salt. Sprinkle it on the carpet, floors, closets, etc. Leave it on overnight if possible. Vacuum up. Its a pain to get up, but it works. You will need to treat your home 2-3 times because it doesnt kill eggs, only live fleas. Youll be rid of the pests in no time.

You need to have the house done professionally WHILE the animals are at the groomers getting treated (or use the flea drops on them).

If you've paid an exterminator, they usually guarantee their work so drag them back. Be sure to do the yard too so it doesn't get tracked back in.

Make sure you use the flea drops on your animals (the good ones, not the cheap ones). Fleas can't live without animals to feed off of, so the problem should sort of resolve if you can keep the animals clean.

Just buy Advantage or Sentinel from your vet and it will kill all fleas on your pet in 24 hours and continue to kill any fleas that jump onto the pet for a whole month it works really well and you shouldnt have to do anything else to kill the fleas in the environment since they will all eventually jump back on your pet and die.....6 months supply of advantage for a 55-100lb dog is about 80 dollars CAN and well worth it!! but whatever you do dont buy the cheap stuff it has to come from the vet!!!! Hartz and zodiac sold in grocery stores doesnt work.

Put a lamp in the floor with a small cup or bowl under it. Fill the bowl with water and stir in some dish liquid. When its dark turn on the lamp, the fleas will come to the light and fall into the soapy water and die. Repeat a couple days in a row. This should work well. Good luck!!

Go to the pet store or vets and get Advantix. It will cost a bit more but the fleas will be gone in days. The next best is frontline Plus.

Put down borax, wait for a few hours, then vaccum. Just don't let pets into the garage until you've vaccumed.
