What other texts? There were thousands of historical texts about the Israelite nation that had nothing to do with Christianity that were not included. And there are a lot of heretical writings that were so far off base that they were laughable. (The Dead Sea Scrolls) I have read them. I actually have a collection of them. What a joke!
No, I believe that what was included in the Bible was the best of the best. Why include in a book writings that deviate from the central theme? Stupid if you ask me.
By your reasoning we could have included the book of Josephus, but it wouldn't have done any good except to entertain us with a history of the Jewish people. Oh yes, the author did make one mention of Jesus Christ in his book. It simply said: "Jesus Christ, he was the Messiah."

Many Gospels essentially said the same thing (Don't be confused by the mistaken Da Vinci Code). The early Church decided to remove them from the Bible. The remaining books are called the Canon. These are the original 66 books in the Bible.

Well there is some confusion over this issue. Some people believe these texts written by apostles were generally not. Also, many gnostic writings happened after 300 A.D. the canon was closed by God using John around 120 A.D. Also, if these alleged texts contradicted inspired scripture they were not accepted.

In Quran, God literally states that "For each society there has been a prophet"
Also God literally states what you mentioned which is "Some of the stories of prophets are mentioned and some are not"
The first means that no one would dare to claim on Judgement day that he was not informed by God Prophet as an excecuse.
Also, Quran states that"Each prophet informs about his followers and thus Moses informed about Jesus and Muhammed and Jesus informed about Muhammed" This is because if the follower of one prophet be alive when the other one shows, they ought to follow him.
Wht not telling all the stories? It is God wish and He did not inform us why so we should not try to investigate

I'm not sure but I think that over 2000 books have been found to date telling of the life, times, and miracles of Jesus. King James said get the best books under God's guidance and compile them into one book. Prior to the bible the only way to find out about God, Jesus, or the Holy Ghost, was to go the the Catholic Priest and have it read to you. The church at that time did not want to release the only playing card they had. The Word. King James said you don't have the right to keep this from the people. Jesus went to the people, not the preist. (Well, to scold them.)

You can find them in books and such. Look for the Book of Thomas. Of course there are many others. Some are even available online.
Some were not included because it was a well known fact that what the author wrote was not true (like the Book of Judas).

Because those books ('Apocrypha') a.) didn't allow the church to have power, b.) didn't portray Jesus as a deity, and c.)went against the books that did portray a divine Jesus. Also, the early church was very much against Gnosticism, which taught that salvation came through a secret knowledge, not through Jesus' death, and most of the books not added were of Gnostic origin.

They were not included Because they talked about an unconditioually loving God. A God who loved us to much to allow anything to keep us from returning to him. They talked about a God that loved everyone and judged no one. In effect they talked about the real God not the silly judgmental made up god of the bible.
