Ive been told you "hear" God with your heart not your ears but is that only for the older Christians? I mean, its not like Moses/God conversations is it?

It may not be right now but if God so choose to it could be...since there is bible accounts of God speaking from Heaven about Jesus

When God said this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased Matthew and luke...

Hearing God now is still possible and Christ set certain principles to help us hear...

For one thing In the Old testament Isaiah 30:21 says you would hear a word behind you ...that would say this is the way walk ye in it...the meaning of that is that you would hear a word..behind you meaning your mind and what he is saying is the important part of the verse...why because it is important to know the word of God to be able to understand the voice of God..

If God speaks you have to know that he is not going to contradict his own word in which it says..in 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine for reproof for correction for instruction in righteouness.

So when God speaks he will reprove you instruct you correct you and instruct you in righteousness...and when He speaks you can right a book and it would be profitable for doctrine

There are 3 voices in your mind you need to understand...yourself the devil and God...you when you are thinking say I'm hungry..thirsty sleepy...and so on..the devil when he speaks says your thirsty ..go get you a beer...go to a bar ...or go to see that woman who turns you on so much ...stuff like that...when God speaks he will like in Isaiah tell you to go to the left or right ...that is instruction...he might tell you to do a thing He might tell you correct you when you do something wrong or reprove you...He can tell you to go to a store to buy a gallon of milk even if you have a half left...then when you are on the way..you meet someone who you see needs help ...you see god may instruct you to help someone else and provide the means including divine intersection..

The bottom line is yes God does speak...you have to know his voice which also means you need to know his word so that you cannot be deceived by the voice of the devil...because the devil will try to use scripture to to confuse you.....he did with Jesus ..he tried to use scripture to hide behind and didn't realize he was dealing with thte almighty in the flesh..who shot right back with the proper use of the word....

Finally what Jesus was saying in Matthew about the lilies of the field how they don'y work but yet are clothed and the birds how they are fed and how much more we are better then they ...meaning IF God would take care of them how much more would he take care of you....why??..because it frees your mind and allows your mind to be clear to hear from God

Another reason why anything that messes with your mind we need to leave alone if it causes your mind to be clouded ...stay away ..because with your mind clouded you might be confused who is speaking...God bless

to lois the apostate ..your heart is not just an organ the heart in man is also described as a part of mans spirit like mind....man is body sould and spirit..and in other definitions the spirit has a mind and a heart which technically...is the same thing...mans ..soul and spirit are two different parts but in content are the same thing ..air the breath is what keeps you alive ...then the spirit is your conciousness ..your character...your personality...it is a spiritual matter not a physical one...

Twice. the first time could have been an angel.

I was in a near fatal car accid. I was not wearing my seat belt and was late for work. I heard a small voice say. "Put your seat belt on". I thought it was my own thought. I ignored it. I heard the same message 2 more x's each louder than before. I had never experienced anything like that before so I ignored it. Another car ran a stop sign, I was hit, my car hit a fire hydrant and went airborne, then my car hit a building. I wished I had listened to that voice.

That experience prepared me for the 2nd time I heard God's voice. Again I had some doubt with what I heard so I had a conversation and even tested God. He told me that I'd soon meet the man I'd marry. The man I met was the furthest from my idea but has been better than I could have ever imagined. We both know that it could only have been God that has brought us together. Happily Ever After for 11 yrs now.

I sure would like someone to explain how anyone can hear anything with one's heart, since it is simply the organ that pumps blood throughout the body. I am sure that, by "heart," they must mean something else, but what?

Moses, Adam, Noah, and many others allegedly had one-on-one conversations with God, and sometimes he appeared as a physical manifestation, such as a burning bush or a pillar of smoke....yet nowadays, Christians can only babble about God speaking to their "heart," or manifesting himself as emotions. What happened? Why has God become so weak that he can't even communicate in a flaming shrubbery these days?

Yes. I have heard God with my heart. 8 yrs ago after going through a lot of fertility tx and no results , I stopped praying for a baby and I finally just asked God to please just let me be strong enough to handle what was meant to be even if that meant I would never have a child . While praying I started to feel a sense of calm that I have never really felt before and is really hard to explain. A thought that everything would be alright and I was going to have a son some day(evn though I wnted a girl when the fertility stufff started) I was not sure if it would be next yr or 5 yrs or if it meant adoption but I knew God meant for me to be a mother. I had the first really peacefull nights sleep in so long realizing that it was up to God not me , my husband or my doctor ... I hd stopped treatments 10 wks earlier. The next day my doctor ran a pregnancy test to make sure another test could be safely run... it could not b/c I was 8 wks pregnant and I knew it was a boy....My son will be 8 next week.
I am not crazy or overly religous . But I "Felt" God speaking to me that night , I was comforted by what I felt and then what I felt I was being told happened.
Sometimes I think God speaks to us in other ways as well ... intuition , just a feeling or in a dream. You just have to open your mind and heart to "hear ' him.

No, It isn`t an audible conversation , however God does communicate through the Holy Spirit which He gives us , when we acknowledge that He paid the penalty of death on our behalf by dying in our place on the cross . If we believe Jesus died for"our" sins , and we repent of "our" sins then we will become born again , or have the third part of the trinity , the Holy Spirit live in our bodys giving us a true God conciousness of what His will is for our life, daily or eternally if we study the Bible so we may know what His will is for us.So the more we study Gods Word and Pray the closer we become to God which is what He wants for everyone . hope this helps a little .

I, personally, have not had a Moses/God conversation, but do believe that i have heard from God on many occassions and in many different forms and fashions. Through his word, TV, music, other people, visions(only 1), and other strange happenings that i cannot explain and dont even want to try. I do treasure these moments and believe w/all my heart that God "spoke" to me.

Yes you can hear God with your heart, and it will lead you directly to where you are supposed to be, the problem is that most people worry about actions for fear of them not seeming normal, like quitting your job. Sometimes God will tell people to do things, but they dont listen, but sometimes those feelings that drive you insane in your heart, are words from God. Follow your heart.. God and Know what Gods saying

You hear God all the time when God answer your prayer and when a problem seems impossible to solve and it just get solved and when a door just open in noway path.

God communicates to us through a barrier because our system does not bare the power of God..So God talked to Moses behind a barrier, and to other messangers through Angels.

This is Muslim Prospective anyway

No,but you hear God from your soul. It's kind of like when someone is evil but you help them when they are poor because something inside of you knows that's what God would want you to do. It's the holy spirit that tells you to do this . It's as if caring for them is caring for Jesus himself because we are all made in God's image. No, I do not actually hear a voice though.

God only speaks to Christians through His written Word. If you hear voices you need to see a head doctor. His Word tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, He was buried and took our sins away and rose again the third day for our justification. If we believe that then we will go to heaven. As Christians we don't know what to pray for as we should so the Holy Spirit make intersession for us. Romans 8: 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
