It is cause by a bactiera that is growing in you sweat. It is in a warm dark enviorment and is wet. The stuff you buy to cure it is going to take about 2 to 3 weeks. for a really bad fungus, you are lookin at a month

It is a fungus, of course.
There are several different kinds that can affect the feet. Most are highly contagious and you can catch it by showering barefoot after someone else with it has showered, as well as spread it to the rest of your household if you don't bleach the shower after you use it.

You may have to try several different products before you find one that works for you. I have found that sometimes simple bleach works well. Other times a 'no name' athlete's foot remedy has worked the best, even better than what the doctor prescribed.
For the painful cracking and peeling one found here, there is a rather expensive cream sold through rafting or outdoor outfitters that seems to be the only thing that is effective.
Plain old garlic will often work on nail fungus even, but since you have to wear the fresh juice or paste for a day or so it can be a problem!

The biggest problem I believe to a real cure is that we contaminate our shoes, socks and even carpet. I moved into a rental where I eventually realized I was catching and re-catching it from the carpet. I finally got a fungal powder and saturated the house with it when I left for a weekend. When I got back I used a dust mask and vacuumed the carpet several times. That seemed to fix the problem.

Good luck! Fungus sucks and it can seem to take forever to cure!

clorox will kill anything!
foot fungus is typically caused by foot dampness and wetness. Change your socks at least twice a day and use foot powder. Dry your feet really well when you get out of the shower.
