Why do people have children?

Ok, I know someone else already asked this exact question, but WOW some of the answers were really SAD. I am not a baby factory, nor ever wanted to be, and never will. More people need to NOT have children. There are WAY too people on this earth. There is no quarantee that kids will take care of you when you are old. Just because you get married to someone you love does not mean you will want to become a baby factory!!! It is selfish to HAVE children. I don't want to be on this earth, I don't have a choice because my parents (I love them) had me. Now I am stuck here. Before everyone starts sending hate mail to me, I love children. But if people were more responsible the world would be better! Couples that have been married for a few years, that have the money etc. having children is the only way it makes sense. You don't sleep around, get pregnant to a bunch of guys and go on welfare! Wow, I am running out of space and I have a lot more to say! Oh well.

I think that people need to have a license before having children. Some people just don't need to be having kids. Like the people that let their kids scream in restaurants or run wild in stores. If people want unconditional love they need to adopt a pet.

I think this is a good question, for which I would never presume to have the answer. However, when I was having almost the same discussion some years ago about overpopulation and there being too many people on this earth, an Englishman, overhearing our conversation said, "Pardon me! I couldn't help overhearing your spirited conversation. The problem isn't that there are too many children: it's that the wrong people are having them!"
He made a good point. I think the fact that you exercise your will not to have children shows great maturity. Many people don't think about why they are having kids and then treat them like chattel. Some people just aren't parental material.
In your case, I am sorry you are having such a difficult time with life, but I am glad you are exercising the ability to decide what to do with yourself. I hope you continue to think about things in your future.

People marry have sex and then they want to have something to share thier love with like kids and thier are the future of the world when you died the world needs to go on. Well some do take care of you not all of them different people.

It is not selfish to HAVE children it is part of life you enjoy it in everyway you can but if you don't want to be on this earth then that is your problem.Come on I bet you are not enjoying your life that why you don't want to be on earth.

wow, you sound hostile. i guess people have babies because you will never find a greater joy nor a greater challenge in life. i am married, my husband works hard everyday so that i can stay home with our son. he is 4 months old and the last 4 months have been the greatest of my life. we wanted someone to share our lives with. watching him learn new things, taking care of him is pure joy. he has taught me so much. to live for someone else is to be happy. i strongly recommend you reconsider your position. people who reproduce to take advantage of the system are not the problem, the system is the problem. there are people who should not, if you cant provide a child with what he needs you aren't fit to parent, people should have a HOME for their child/children. a mommy and daddy home with food and clothes and love and stability. these things should not be considered nice to have but absolutely necessary. people should choose partners wisely and use protection until they are ready.

I didn't have my kids to go on welfare my husband and I support them just fine on our own. I will also never have kids with another man...my husband will be the father of all my kids...I think having three kids with three different fathers is trashy. I had kid because my husband and I are in love nd we wanted to share that love with a family of our own(sorry we don't consider a dog family...although so people do, we don't). If everyone stopped having kids the human race would die out...and to your comment about not asking to be brought into this world that is so disrespectful to your parents....you say you love them but criticize them for wanting to share there love with you...If my kids ever said that to me I would be heartbroken.

So, what is your question? People have children because they think the kid will grow up and love them, or they want someone to take care of them when they are old, or they think the idea of kids is just wonderful......Or, they didn't use birth control.....

Humanity is a virus on the planet. And as all viruses do they propagate exponentially. Personally I am just waiting on the planet to engage some form of anti virus software like it did with the dinosaurs.

You need to blog. It sounds like you're concerned about this issue but we have no control over people having children irresponsibly. It's sad when you know history repeats itself in these lives.

Yea, well we get the picture of what you are saying. Sometimes I wonder WHY I had children, myself. And I know why animals sometimes eat their young. Not everyone is suited to be a parent...

Nobody gets to live forever.We have childeren to have a life beyond our own,a part of us can continue on in life.I think you have much deeper issues here,"I don't want to be on this earth"<- this is a much much deeper problem.Seek counseling before it's too late.Life is to short to waste.
