As you age your priorities and needs change. Lifelong learning has more to do with learning those things that apply to your life than it does to getting an education. This means that as your needs change, so does that which you need to learn. I'm 64 and find I need to learn a lot about computers. So, I'm going back to school. A few years ago, I started raising laying chickens for profit and I've had to learn many things about that endeavor. So,, you see, learning is about anything and everything you may wish to undertake in your life. There's a saying that I heard somewhere which I think is very accurate. It is, "If you aren't learning, you're dying."
Think about it.
I hope this answers your question in an understandable way.

i think that learning changes over time due to the inclusion of our experiences. you know the saying "trick me once...". i think that's why a written history is so important whether it is personal or worldly. either one is, in essence, a to do list of what not to do's. on the other hand we also learn to appreciate and desire better things or more knowledge--hopefully succeeding along the way!! i hope at least some of that made sense.
