Dinosaurs, man existing millions of years after other animals, all aspects of evolution (apes etc), carbon dating, the age of the earth, fossels, Proof of no world flood happening, the number of species that could never fit on the Ark, etc. etc. Science has proved the bible is a lie in so many ways. So do christians believe that the whole work of science is work of the devil, does this make area 51 seem like a small conspiracy?

Stacy G: Actually the big bang theory was a theory bought up by a catholic priest/physicist.

So is it hypicritical to say I believe science and the bible... seriously people Evolution PROVES the bible is a LIE. Twisting the logic of science and the logic of the bible so they fit together is rediculous.

Dmd: would have been a hell of a job for Noah to collect all those mosquito species eggs.. The insect world wouldn't have taken him forever alone. How far did Kangaroos hop to get to this ark?

I guess too many people here get their science from the latest science fiction books. Anyway...
First, the theory of evolution does not hold that humans evolved from apes. This has to be one of the most popular misconceptions ever. Humans and apes have a common ancestor.
Also, don't go around spouting "But, but, it's just a theory!" Well, it's about as much as a theory as the theory of gravity, atomic theory, germ theory, and the theory of relativity. Theories in science are NOT wild guesses; facts and theories are not rungs on a ladder of certainty. Rather, theories complement and unite facts. What theories really are are explanations of facts. For example, the theory of gravity explains the fact of gravity in the same way that the theory of evolution explains the fact of evolution.
Also, evolutionary theory has not been proven. That's correct. But neither has the theory of relativity, nor germ theory, nor atomic theory, nor the theory of gravity. NOTHING in science is proven - there is only evidence to support. Relativity has a lot of strong evidence to support it, along with gravity (try dropping an apple sometime, it will fall down), and with evolution.
In all honesty, too many critics of science tend to not know much science at all.
In any case, I'm not a Christian and I don't believe that science is one big conspiracy theory.
BWJORDAN: GREAT response. Don't forget about the principle of uniformitarianism in science though. ;) Now, if only we could get more evolutionary creationists/theistic evolutionists...

I am a Christian. I believe Dinosaurs existed (see Job 40 in the Bible) I believe that God created the world and all that is in it in 6 days, but until the 4th day, time didn't exist, so Gods 1 day could have been 1000 years. God's time differs from Earthly time. Before the 4th day, it was on God's time, not earthly time. I believe parts of Evolution. I don't think we evolved from apes, but other things may have been caused by God. I do think there was a world flood, and science is finding that to be more true than not true. Species on the Ark? Ever consider that Noah took the eggs or baby creatures, taking less room? I don't think science has proved the Bible to be lies. On the contrary, science is digging up all kinds of things that correspond exactly with what the Bible says. Area 51 is insignificant to me. If there were Aliens, I would tend to think that they are fallen angel / Satin hatched. Just my opinion.

StanleyHS does not speak for all Christians. It is very unfortunate that there are still some who have those sentiments. There is no Biblical referance to the age of the earth.
It is also unfortunate that you tend to lump all Christians into the same category. It would be as unfair as me picking out the most ignorant atheist and saying that ALL atheists were entirely stupid.
I am a Christian, and I believe in evolution. I just believe that God directed it. I believe in science. There's nothing in the Bible that prohibits my beliefs, nor is there anything in science that disproves God.
The Bible was never meant to be a science textbook. If it had, it would have been written something like "In the beginning, God created 1x10^982343 quarks...." The Bible was written to people of all ages and all societies, not just the most educated humans and just for those educated people of the last 50 years.
There are some things you can't re-create in the lab, if that is what you are looking for. Do you believe that Alexander the Great existed? Did World War II happen? We have historical evidence of these things, but we cannot recreate them in a lab. So how do you know they REALLY happened the way you think they did? Science is good for predicting patterns, but terrible at explaining one-time events, especially aberrations of history. But it doesn't mean those things didn't happen. You can't re-create your own birth in a lab, so by some scientific standards, you don't exist. If you treat the Bible fairly, it holds up to the same criticisms as other historical facts.

Your question is not wholesome. Science has proven things that the Bible has said to be true. There was a flood, evolution of the spieces to another spieces is not true. There is aprroxmiately 4,000 years of recorded history in the Bible, another 2,000 years of history from the crucifiton of Jesus on the cross. That's all there is. So if you round to the next number the Earth is only about 10,000 years old. If dinosaurs existed then why they not mentined in the Bible before the flood.

Science has a long track record of changing it's beliefs.
For instance, one of the most advanced cultures on earth used excrement as a medical treatment for cuts.
I like the no flood thing you claim. What is something to consider:
the evidence science uses to define the so called ice age(movement of rocks/earth, canyons cut out etc.), could just as easily have been caused by great quantities of water.
As regards the ark? Only 2 of each type animal would need to have been aboard. Really when you break it down out of say, 2 dogs for instance, we have how many breeds today? Now when you look at the animal kingdom how many different KINDS of animals are there really?

Science and religion have certain similarities - they both are searching for the truth. Science is limited by what the human mind can comprehend, religion is not. We (Christians) do not view science as evil, in fact, the majority of scientists believe in a higher power.
Evolution requires more faith than religion. If man evolved from apes, why are there still apes? Why are there none of the species between ape and man? Yet, this is acceptable science?
Lack of proof is not proof of the opposite.

Rayndeon: thank you for re-establising my faith in the capability of humans to reason. I was beginning to quaver after reading so many of these responses.
Seriously, who's the person that mentioned science proving the flood more true than not? Raise your hand; I've got a geology professor I'd like you to meet. Heck, I think most everybody in here could do with a few science lessons...

I was a Christian. I know paleontology, geology, astronomy, etc.
Yet I am very unhappy with life. I wish I did not know science and just knew God. It wouldn't matter whether I was Christian, Jew, Muslim, of Bhuddist. Religion answers questions through faith.
Conspiracy by whom? Conspiracies among a handful of people is hard to keep secret. A conspiracy among hundred of millions? I don't even want to convert anyone to know the truth. It is so much easier not knowing.

Try it.

Science may have proven the bible wrong
But the bible proves science is wrong
Its up to people to decide for themselves
Maybe science is right and what I believe is wrong.
If science is right what harm is it doing me to pray.
NONE thats how much!
Now what if the bible is right and you never took the steps to try and understand it?
What then..........
