Only if allowing openly gay soldiers to serve would actually improve military readiness.
The fact is that the main population of people likely to serve in the military are people who do not want forced association with openly gay people. And the populations that openly gay people belong to are not likely to serve in the military.
The only people whose opinions count in this matter are those people who ate likely to join the military. If allowing openly gay people to serve will cause more soldiers to either leave the service or choose not to join in the first place than the number of openly homosexual soldiers - then the military now has fewer people to defend you with.
Is it not ironic that the people who feel that you are worth protecting are the people who disagree with you politically? And the people who tend to agree with you are not willing to protect you?

Yes,they should be allowed. What is really the main reason for the prohibition? If gay considered as a sexual abnormality, does anybody ever think that there are so many sexual abnormality that straight people could have?
As long as the gays can folow every requirement the military ask, and can obey all the rules and regulations the military demands, why not.May be they can be a fierce factor too.
As we also know, that it is not a public secret that a lot of gay people are serving in the current military now by hiding their secret identity. As long as they are not sissy that act feminimly, let they joing the military.

There is a morality issue with homosexuals. The military is very much High Morals! Keep in mind that just because you don't like it, I would not want an openly gay male in a foxhole with me. Especially since they are as feminine as they are now!
I don't understand something. Liberals HATE the military.
I know that most all Gays are Liberals. Why would they join?

i'm not going to answer this question. just let me ask a couple questions to give ya'll something to think about. for you women in the military or who have been in...or even if you haven't imagine you were....would you like a little privacy from men? would it bother you if you were in a totally coed barracks...i don't mean just the building...i mean the room? how about the showers? don't you think just maybe straight males would prefer a little privacy from homosexual males too? you can think what you want about whether gay is ok or not...again we go back to schools teaching that it's just another choice we make....ones as good as another...but there are still some people who while they don't want to get in anybodies business about how they live their life would really prefer not to be around people who are so oriented for a number of reasons i tried to show you with my questions. do these people have rights too? i'll leave it for someone else to decide...i just don't know what's the right thing to do on that one...i just know my own preference.

Not allowing someone to be in the military just because they are homosexual is crazy and I think it is discrimination. It's not like just because a guy is gay he is going to jump every guy in the barracks. If they want to ban anyone why don't they kick guys out the first time they find out they abuse their wives and kids? They are the ones I worry about ... they are already violent in a social situation and we just teach them to be more violent and put them is stressfull situations when they obviously can not cope with the day to day stuff with out beating up people already.

I think gays should be allowed in the military.
I mean, gay people are people just like anyone else.
It's sort of like saying minorities shouldn't be in the military or women shouldn't be in the military.
Yes, so it's not quite as obvious a difference to the recruiters as the examples I used, but the analogy is apt I think.

that's believed that having homosexuals serving overtly could shrink the morale and effectiveness of the gadgets to which the homosexuals have been assinged. that's the reasoning: Many right this moment men could experience very uncomfortable napping, showering, or changing in front of yet another guy standard to be a gay. this is a similar reaction a woman soldier could have if she replaced into made to sleep and bathe with male infantrymen. this could reason a distraction for the right this moment infantrymen and could bring about rigidity interior the unit. Segregating the gay infantrymen could be one a threat answer, yet that would cutting-edge a sparkling project. putting a huge form of ability sexual companions together interior a similar barracks and centers could bring about large sexual rigidity and particular commonly used sexual intercourse, additionally frustrating for unit morale. i do no longer understand if I completely trust this reasoning or think of that's sufficient to restrict gays from serving overtly, yet i ought to confess it has some advantage. the project isn't lots approximately hating gays as that's with reference to the clever problems accomodating for human sexuality interior the unique ecosystem of militia existence. I spoken to countless servicemembers with regards to this subject rely, and many agree that a gay soldier ought to serve basically as bravely and honorably as the different. it is not lots with reference to the gay infantrymen themselves, this is the effect they are in a place to have on others.

I was in the army 30 years ago. There were gays in it then, there are gays in it now.
I can't say, I do know that there were problems with gays in some places, I was a 91C and saw the effects of the beatings some lesbians received at the hands of other lesbians.

No, but I think just for their safety they need to keep it quiet.
Oddly enough did you know that our American military was founded and initially trained by a homosexual.
Also, most militarys do allow homosexuals.

I was in the military back in the 60's and gays were in the military then. They did their job just like the rest of us were doing.
Judge not least you be judged.
