We started talking because he needed someone to talk to about his ex and I was new at school so I just needed someone to talk to period. He was still in love with her and she dumped him. They didn't get back together. I have been open with him the whole time about how I feel and he keeps saying "he likes wehre things are". His ex and I don't really get along because he goes to her now and tells her something about me and then I later hear about it from someone else and then goes to me and complains about her. I don't know what to do. I saw them together yesterday hanging-out somewhere and he said hi but he hasn't been exactly friendly lately. I don't know what to do!

Well... It sounds like he's using you, it seems like he still has feelings for his ex, and it sounds like his ex is using him as well. If he's saying the " I like where things are" stuff then just go with it... he's not over her yet. I wouldn't be too open with him. I mean if he's telling her (the ex) everything that you have told him... that's bad. Rumors are gonna be spread about you like wildfire if you don't cool it with him. It's good to get to know people but it sounds like a back stabbing jerk to me. Does his ex go to the same school as you guys? Just lay low and meet some other people. He may be into talking with you about the ex but you don't need to get in the middle of the drama. Who knows though.... maybe he'll get over her and move on to you. Don't be too open, be patient, and let things progress on its own. Hope this helps.

Sorry I don't think so. Sounds as if he uses you to complain about her and sympathize with him. It Also seems that he's doing the same thing with you. You say you have confided in him but he doesn't have enough respect for you to keep what you tell him to himself. Really it seems like he talks to you when its to his convenience.

if anything he thinks of you as a friend

I think you should forget about him, because you already see that he's deeply in love with her and is stupid enough not to pick you. He's not going to get over her, and he might be tagging you along just incase things don't work out with her. Kinda, like your his back-up girlfriend?

I say he just needed someone to talk to while trying to see if things with him and he was going to change and it seems like they might get back together. He just wasn't putting his eggs in one basket.
