I guess that you are the person experiencing this....? It is because of the stigma associated with disabilites. It is easier for persons to stay uninvolved in this society as an onlooker instead of having to break barriers to accept differences. I am sorry that you are experiencing this but I can say that I have had a great friend go out with a person that was wheelchair bound and he is a police officer. And I have had friends that are part of the Deaf community. I think that you just haven't had a good experience with someone that deserves you. Don't lose heart someone is there for you! Everyone whether disabled or not goes through some form of disappointment. Don't hide because of the disability. You are important and will find the right person. Good luck!

Probably because it is the same reason that most of us with disabilities would not consider it worthy of us to place a hardship on others.

Oh I absolutely do not think that! Handicapped people are just as worthy as any other human being. They deserve to be happy in every aspect of their live.
