White Vinegar and the HOTTEST water that you can manage to keep your hands in. After you've scrubbed its face off and let it dry, pour heaping piles of baking soda on top of the spots and let it sit for about 12 hours. The baking soda will absorb all the odors, then you can just shake/vacuum it off.

Rent a steamer (if you don't already have one) They are easy to use and they work great. Just lay the carpet out flat ( you can even lay it in your house but you will have a little steam water vapors that you will have to dry up, I wouldn't recommend doing this on the carpet you have unless you are planning on removing it.) The people you rent the steamer from should be able to give you more details. But as I said they are easy to use.

Or you can use a carpet cleaner. Same thing you can either rent one or Walmart has them on sale for like $70 I was going to get me one. You just fill them up with a carpet cleaner and water and run it over the carpet it shoots out the water and the cleaner and then it sucks it back up. Down side with this is though you have to do it until the water dosen't come back up looking dirty (about 3 times)

Both the carpet cleaner and the steamer are on sale at walmart. I prefer the steamer because it also sterlizes the carpet and you only have to do it once.

If you can afford to, get it dry cleaned. There are dry cleaners that specialize in rugs.

If not, get a broom and a big pail. Fill the pail with laundry detergent, water, and vinegar - about 1/2 vinegar in total. Lay the carpet on your driveway if it's clean, or on a tarp. Using the hose, wet it down thoroughly and then, using the broom, scrub with the soap mixture. Rinse thoroughly and hang in the sun to dry - this is important. If the scent is still there, you can try some of the commercial products for pet urine but I've found that if this doesn't work nothing will.

There is a product out called OUT dog urine remover. It can be purchased at Walmart. I have even used this on cat spray and it worked great. If it's a large area you might want to rent a steam cleaner and purchase a carpet cleaning product made for pet owners. It goes in the steam cleaner.

It would be best not to use the carpet - the oder is caused by bacteria and molds and installing the carpet in your house will introduce the bacteria and molds into your home in a place that will be impossibe to get rid of it
