It's only a matter of time before it mutates into something nastier then it already is. I have a relative in a government position to know....and you'd better get prepared, people !

I have been preparing my home, & family for over a year. Those who don't prepare are ignorant of the history of pandemics. My sister gives me the "excuse" of no money. She works 2 jobs, has a farm...I am disabled, on social security and I HAVE prepared...so that's no excuse. If I can do it, anyone can. Just slowly, that's all. But now I'm as ready as I can be... and the secure feeling of KNOWING I have done all I can for my house...is a little comforting.

In time, yes. We even experiences periods of pandemic from our common flu today. Influenza strains of all types are very susceptible to mutation. The avian influenza H5N1 was first exclusively a bird flu; humans could not contract it. Already it has mutated to be capable of infecting humans, all it needs to do now is become capable of human to human transmission, which shouldnt take any longer than 1-3 more mutations.

The 1918 influenza outbreak was caused by an avian flu and more people died from that pandemic than have died from any war in history. The fatality rate of that flu was 25%. This avian influenza has a 50% fatality rate. That's a flip of a coin. It happened before and it will happen again.

It will only be a pandemic in the media.

sounds like another scare tactic like "Y2K",by the media to cause mass panic so people will go out and buy all kinds of stuff they don't need or have the extra money for ...
Common sense says the % of infected birds is very low compared to the number of birds that exist....also,who in their right mind picks up dead birds ???
