Hi Laura - I'd get a second opinion and bring all the supportive paperwork you have (borrow x-rays from doctors, history and physical/H&Ps, etc) to the second doctor who will hopefully be more cooperative in filling out the paperwork for your disabilities. You said you have been told not to work for more than 4 hours a day; whoever told you this needs to document it for you.

For training, you might look into a healthcare-related class such as medical coding (constant demand) and/or medical transcription. You can do one or both from your home, which would take some of the pressure off you. God bless you and good luck.

Go to your local social security office and pick up an application for disability. They will give you all of the forms you need to fill out. One of them should be a form for your doctor to fill out. The rest you fill out. If your doctor refuses to help you, then you should go to another one. I know that I would not want a doctor that doesn't help me.

If he has told you not to work more than 4 hours a day, then you should be able to get disability. Talk to a lawyer.

get a disability lawyer...many of them dont charge unless you win the case..and a lawyer can light a fire under your doctor's rump.
