Is there an age cutoff or life event which should cause me to cease sending gifts? If so, what are your suggestions?

I'd say the key is to ween the off of them. Send cheaper and cheaper gifts and then make them late and then none at all.

Of course if you are asking because the opposite is true (that you want areason to keep giving but they are saying to stop), then keep going so long as it makes you happy. Tell hem if they don't like them then to give them to a homeless person.

Regardless there is likely no magic number as it depends on how close you are to the people in question, but I'd say you could pick milestones like graduations from elementary school or high school or maybe even when they get the driver's licence as apporpriate cut-offs.

It's appropriate to stop sending gifts after you inform the nieces/nephews that you care about them very much, but it's just not in your budget to send gifts, and that you'll continue to remember and acknowledge their important days with cards. Age doesn't matter as much as simple honesty, that you are discontinuing gifts, not love. It's good form to send a graduation gift, for high school and college, regardless of whether or not you send gifts to the graduate normally.

When you send a card without a gift, it's nice to include a special note, a memory to share, encouragement or advice that's pertinent to the recipient, or something worth saving and remembering.

Never. Gifts are a gesture of love and appreciation. Everyone loves to receive gifts especially from loved ones. So why stop?

It's a matter of personal choice. Usually after they've entered their teens or when they don't acknowledge the gifts in most cases. It also depends upon how close of a relationship you have with them.

Well, you should give them gifts until they turn 18 or graduate from high school. After that it's really up to you whether you want to continue to gift give to them.

hmm...depends if your nieces/nephews have alot of stuff or if your not particularly fond of them then probably around 12. If it's a financial thing then try sending a card or do somthing that shows you care. But if you are fond of them then feel free give all you want.

Giving gifts is all out okey at any age. But when its not in your budget, then thats ok to cut off gift giving.

my aunt and uncle stopped giving gifts sometime in high school. at my graduations from high shchool and college they gave gifts and attended. they also attended and we received gifts at our wedding. now, when we get together for christmas we just exchange gift cards or something small...just as tokens for the season. other times nothing is warranted or expected from either side.
