my mom is the same way. I think if you just stop telling yourself that becasue you are stressed you should eat, you will stop. Maybe you are using your stress as an excuse for your eating. Just stop thinking about food, get happy, and dont worry about your weight because you will want food even more. Exercise, it helps stress, will take your mind off of food, and it will help you burn off those extra pounds.

Only eat when you are hungry. Instead of eating, try watching TV or doing something to ease the stress. Whatever you do, shut the fridge and snack drawer. Put locks and signs (such as, "Am I eating because I'm bored or stressed?") on them if you have to. Ignore the temptations by excersizing or doing something that will make you relaxed. You never know, you might find a new favorite hobby!

I have to admit that I have the same problem and still working thru it. What works for me is going on a bike ride whenever I feel cravings and then taking out all the junk food out of the house. I find myself less likely to cook a full meal if I have no microwables around so I also only keep food I gotta prepare.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Habits are not easy to break and this one can be detrimental to ya body. Try another outlet for ur stress, try doing jumping jacks, jump rope, take 10 deep breathes, try anything but putting food in ur mouth. When u do eat, ask urself "Am I really hungry" or am i just comforting myself? Ur bod usually knows when it's hungry and u need to be able to discern between those feelings. We sometimes get hooked on certain foods becuz of the way they taste. Sugar is very addicting, try losing ya taste for it by eating sugar free candy. I keep a bowl of sugar free candy on my coffee table. Just try to be more consicious of what ur doing and why ur doing it. Hope this helps!

its human nature to try to use food as comfort, as many foods release endorphins that tell us we are content to counteract the stress. Try to come up with healthier snacks, or keep yourself occupied when you start craving something. I am horrible about wanting comfort foods also, i got to where i would drink a couple glasses of water before i would eat anything, becuase i would feel more full, if that doesn't work, i'd go for a walk and see if that helps.

you must 1st find out what the stressor is and then remove it and learn to deal with it in a more constructive way, liek start working out, running swimming biking. These things release enndorphines which are good for the body and put you in state of relaxation....
