Pretty much, no one is legally allowed to transport any kind of liqour on board an aircraft.

Not legally. If you pack it in your checked luggage, then when/if the suitcase is opened, they won't be checking for ID...just checking for illegal stuff for planes. So, can it be done? Yes.
Legally? Not if you are under the age for alcohol...but that is state law, not federal.
The hard part would be customs when you come INTO the US from another country. At that point you are required to carry and possibly open ALL your luggage...and maybe they would take the alcohol if you are not of age in the state you fly into.
Anyway...if you try it, don't bring it in your carry on luggage within the US, simply check it. Your odds will be much better.
**and contrary to what F/A Nicole right above says....alcohol is NOT a prohibited item in carry on luggage on United, American, Delta, Southwest, or ANY of the 8 or 10 foreign carriers I have flown. HOWEVER...if you are carrying your own booze...it is absolutely against regulations to OPEN and consume it on the plane. But there is a big difference between carrying and consuming! Maybe she meant consuming...
