The SEVIS fee is US$ 100, payable to the Department of Homeland Security. It can be paid on-line; the printable receipt should be taken with you to your visa interview.

The SEVIS fee is mandated by Congress to be used for the operational costs of the SEVIS program. It applies to all new applicants for F-1, F-3, J-1, M-1 and M-3 visas.

The SEVIS fee for a student or exchange visitor is $100, payable to DHS through https://www.fmjfee.com/index.jhtml. The application fee for the visa (which is what I think you mean by using the word "interview") is another $100, payable either to the embassy directly or through an off-site bank or other process; every embassy and consulate does it a little differently.
