Looks like you already got your own answer. Or are you looking for an alibi in case the authorities come down knocking on your door: "Hey, this is okay, I asked on Yahoo! Answers!"
You leave out a couple of important details, such as your age and your stepcousin's. You might be opening yourself to some legal trouble, for example, if she's a minor and you are not. More to the point, what if she gets pregnant? You'd become a father. You want to face that?

it's not incest since it isn't blood related, but there would be repercussions if your family gets together a lot and things go bad between you. Think about the future and what might happen.
Scenario: The two of you get together and then things go astray...oops...she has this new beau at the family get together and they are pretty serious. You still have feelings for her....or vice versa....what happens then?

go ahead, just hook up,,, just no strings physical is fine,,, its not illeagal, if she is ur step cousin,, and it is not a jerry springer show either, actually it is quite normal, ,,, it is not incest when thier is no blood ties, and even that only goes to ur first cousins, after that it is legal, most people on her dont have a clue whats going on, they live very sheltered lives, and are tooo hung up on being morally and politically correct, and tooo worried about someone might think they are a pervert,,, ooooooo who cares what other people think as long as u are happy,, they dont live ur life.

as long as their arn't any blood ties in any direction even "several times removed" type of relation, then it is ok. You kind of answered your own question tho... hanging around with anyone is fine. Its the commitment/marriage thing that you have to worry more about how close your family blood lines run.

If you feel unconfortable then dont do anything and make sure you tell her that but if you want to and since she isnt from your cousin from a blood line i dont see any problem with it.

I would suggest that you talk to your parent about this. And if he or she says that they are ok with it then get closer. If horrifies. the whole family then just be cousins.
