At the time he told them, it was not yet time to give his identity. After His death was the time for them to say so. Just like he told his mother that the time for him to do miracles and such was not the time she was wanting him to do something. But he also obeyed her, too.
But basically the timing was not right.

As far as Matthew 8:4, I think Christ did not want to be boastful about what was done.
When Christ told the Apostles to make disciples of all nations, that is because during His mortal ministry he only wanted Jews to be taught. After His death and resurrection he instructed them to now go and teach everyone, not just Jews.

Well, that's the Bible.
To me, erm.. King Herod wanted to kill him since he's a baby, cuz the 3 wise men told him that he wanted to visit the King (Jesus), and Herod is very jealous about it.
Well, if Herod knows that he's Christ, (even Herod had already died), i think the nations will go against him too.
When, in Matthew, he's also a 20++ man, but, He as a son of God knows that he will be hung on the cross to die for us.. And, I guess, that, he still have a lot of healings to do after that..
We dont really know the answer to that. So, it's my opinion

The Bible doesn't give a definitive answer to this. I've done a lot of reading and studying and my personal opinion is that He wanted people to hear about the miracles He had done through word of mouth from those He had healed of diseases and those who had been released from demon posession. I think He wanted to create a hunger in men for Himself.
Even when Pilate questioned Him, he asked Jesus if He was Christ and Jesus answered Him in riddles. I think this was to fulfill the scripture which said that He would be led to the slaughter as a sheep before His shearers was dumb.
He knew the Jews of His day knew the scriptures that the prophets had written and wanted men to study to show themselves approved and worthy.

Because of the massive crowds that gathered when they passed that information around. He told them not to tell anyone until after He had risen. When the crowds were too big they could not accomplish anything because the people were only coming to see His miracles and to get food they did not have a genuine interest in His spiritual message. That is all explained in the Bible.

Here is what I know-
In 8:4, he had not been crucified yet. He did not want anyone to know til the right time. In 28:19, He was on His way out, and gave final instructions.
Are you that dumb, or are you looking for kindergartners in the faith to try to trip up.

This is another case where a verse is taken out of context, read the prior and following verses as follows.
"1 When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
2 Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean."
3 Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 Jesus said to him, "See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
5 When he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him,
6 and saying, "Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented."
7 Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him.""
I beleive Jesus is saying tell nobody that I healed you and made you clean. I see nowhere where it states "tell no one he was christ," also, doesnt "go therefore and make disciples of all nations" mean to witness and preach the word of Christ to the nations?

At the time he wasn't ready for anyone to know. Time is important with these things, ya know, haha! You can't just do a miracle or two in a small town and pronounce yourself the messiah. Word would spread that he was crazy before he'd have a chance to do any good and really prove he *was* Christ.

I think that he did not want to rely on human advertising to spread his message. His ministry is very personal, touching peoples' lives in a very personal way. He did not want hordes of people crowding him, taking away from the personal touch of his ministry. Crowds would come because of word of mouth. Likewise Christian ministry shouldn't attract people through advertising but through the life giving work that God is doing through it. Also, his disciples were young spiritually and they themselves did not completely know what "the Christ" meant. Amongst themselves they could talk. Later, after growing in their knowledge of God, they would go to the crowds with the clear message of the Gospel.

if the masses knew he was "the son of man" they would have come and whoopassed him and crucified him even before he could do anything meaningful. Just imagine, when the masses found out he was the jesus, they beat him up, force him to carry the crucifix and then torture him, if they found out sooner there would be no christian faith anymore. should have happened that way.
